This Week with ETH SD
1. Recap - ETH SD Panel Discussion: OpenSea
Tides are rising in SD.
Last Thursday, we welcomed Technical Recruiter Ken Cadima and Engineering Manager David Bai of OpenSea to the Edge HQ for a panel discussion on developing within a big web3 operation, how to appeal to hiring teams, and more!

Check out the full discussion on the ETH SD YouTube!
2. ETH SD x Alchemy University Bootcamp Almost Complete, Enters Week 7
This past weekend, the ETH SD x Alchemy University Cohort Crew wrapped up the final in-person session of the bootcamp. After week 6 demos, week 7 lecture, and a brief workshop following, students assembled teams for their final projects.

A timely preview into the coming week, Namdar Mesri had some ETH Denver/Bufficorn hype in his demo.
3. ETH SD x ETH Denver Overview
In addition to the packed speaker and workshop itinerary, the numerous spreadsheets showcasing side events, and everything else taking place during the week, ETH SD also has a lot in store for the community at large.
To start, we’ve sponsored the trips of eight UCSD students and members of the university’s blockchain club, Blockchain at SD (BaSD).

During the week, we’ll be hosting community members, builders, and frens at the ETH SD Vibe House to hack and hang throughout the day. The team will also be recording episodes of the ETH SD podcast.
Shoot us a DM on Twitter if you’d like to stop by or be featured as a guest on the ETH SD Podcast!
But wait, there’s merch! In addition to all of the sick swag attendees will be collecting over the course of the hackathon, ETH SD wants to take up some space in your suitcase.
We’re vibing high in the mile-high.
What’s Being Built
1. Blur - Airdrop and Marketplace
A nice Valentine’s Day treat, Blur distributed tokens to users of their platform from the last 6 months. If you haven’t claimed your airdrop, you’ve got until April. US users experienced issues when trying to claim, when VPNs came to the rescue. Check out the NFT marketplace at blur.io.

Also relevant in the NFT marketplace conversation, OpenSea has reduced their fee to 0% “for a limited time.”
2. zkSync’s zkEVM
On the mission to bring widespread privacy to Ethereum, zkSync’s zkEVM is live on Mainnet. Dive into the docs here.
Have zero knowledge on zero-knowledge? Here’s Ethereum.org’s definition:
“A zero-knowledge proof is a way of proving the validity of a statement without revealing the statement itself. The ‘prover’ is the party trying to prove a claim, while the ‘verifier’ is responsible for validating the claim.”

It will be interesting to see which L2s begin migrating to zk-based EVMs.

3. Shopify Signs In with Ethereum
The adoption continues. The web2 e-commerce giant Shopify has integrated with Sign-In with Ethereum (SIWE). A platform that has gained a significant user base and market share within the past few years, Shopify has brought digital point-of-sale functionality to the commons. This integration will surely aid in ETH’s mainstream adoption. Learn more about SIWE here.
Last Week in Crypto
1. Binance Eyes US Rollback Amid Crypto Crackdown, Delisting of US-based Crypto Rumored
With the recent regulatory rampage from the US Federal government, it’s understandable that foreign entities would have reservations on conducting their business here. A key figure in the global crypto exchange landscape, Binance has been top of mind for many users for some time.
On Friday, Binance CEO CZ provided the following update.

At the same time, Bloomberg reported the rumors regarding delisting, which felt FUDdy to CT.

2. SEC Sues Do Kwon and Terraform Labs
A regulatory action that users might agree with, the US Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Terraform Labs and co-founder Do Kwon last Thursday.
For those needing a refresher, Terraform Labs created an “algorithmic” stablecoin TerraUSD, which imploded after its peg couldn’t support its value.
3. Japan, Russia, and UAE Prepare for CBDC Implementations
Last week, CoinDesk reported that three countries were in the early stage of their CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) journey: Japan, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates. Earlier in the month, the publication reported India’s Digital Rupee was entering the pilot stage.
While the United State’s CBDC isn’t yet in the stage of the nations mentioned above, it would be uncharacteristic of Uncle Sam to not have a few tricks up his sleeve.
